Thanks for coming out and sitting here with me! Can you tell me your name?

Elliot Lookingland: I’m Elliot Lookingland.

And who are you playing in this show?

Elliot: Tiny Tim!

And this is your first theatre show ever?

Elliot: Yes!

That is so cool. So how did you find your way out here to this show?

Elliot: Well, my friends are doing this and we’ve been related as friends for a really long time. And my friend’s mom told my mom about it and I really wanted to try out for it. We only had two days to find a song and practice the song and get it all ready. And that’s how I got into the play.

That’s awesome. What song did you sing for your audition?

Elliot: “Where Are You Christmas?” from The Grinch.

I love that. What’s it like getting to play Tiny Tim?

Elliot: It’s fun but the scary parts are like when my Scrooge and my father in the show have to pick me up! I don’t know about this! I hope they don’t drop me.

I’m sure they won’t drop you! Tiny Tim has a lot of brothers and sisters. Do you have any brothers and sisters?

Elliot: I have one brother who is three years old. I’m the oldest. But he’s a little brat. He tackles me and punches me and hurts me.

Oh my goodness! What a little brat! I’ll tell you what, though. I am the oldest. I have a younger sister, she is two years younger than me and I’m pretty sure she tried to beat up on me when I was your age too. I think that’s just something little siblings like to do!

Elliot: He is a brat!

I’ll bet. Have you seen any other versions of A Christmas Carol before?

Elliot: Yes! I’ve seen the Netflix version and also I have seen the musical version too.

That’s so cool. Do you have a favorite movie that you like to watch at Christmas time?

Elliot: I like to watch Noel. I like the animals because I’m an animal lover. I like the baby reindeer because it’s so cute.

You’re an animal lover, so do you have any animals at home?

Elliot: Yes, I have a Golden Retriever. His name Marlin and he’s three years old.

Oh wow so Marlin is the same age as your brother?

Elliot: Well yes but my brother is about to turn four so Marlin is younger. I like Marlin better than my brother.

Got it. Do you have a favorite Christmas cookie?

Elliot: I have to say, I like sugar cookies with icing on top.

Do you do anything special for Christmas? Do you go to anybody’s house?

Elliot: I go to my mum-mum’s house, my grandma’s house, we all have dinner together. We also go there for Thanksgiving. And then I go to my other grandmom’s house from my dad’s side of the family. And we have dinner there. They have a pool in the summer but it’s not open in Christmas time.

Oh wow! What’s your favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Elliot: Cookies. And also candy canes.

Ooh, I love candy canes. I like to put them in my hot chocolate.

Elliot: That would be good, I think. If I liked hot chocolate.

You don’t like hot chocolate?

Elliot: I like it sometimes. And some types. I’m a very picky child. I’m very spa— spec- I can’t say that word.

Specific?

Elliot: Yes. Specific. I’m specific.

That’s okay, you’ll get that word as you get older. Now do you have a favorite Christmas song that you like to sing or hear on the radio?

Elliot: Honestly? I don’t really have one. I just like any Christmas song. But I do like “Run, Run Rudolph.” Or I also like “All I Want For Christmas Is You” or “I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas.”

I love all of those! Do you decorate a Christmas tree for Christmas?

Elliot: Yes! My brother, one time? He was taking a nap when we did it? And he woke up and he was crying “I want to put some on!”

Oh my! Did you let him put some ornaments on the tree?

Elliot: Kind of. But he’s a brat. So we had to let him do the non-breakable ones.

Do you have a favorite Christmas ornament or do you just love them all?

Elliot: I just got this crystal on that lights up last year. But I forgot to put it on the tree! So I get to put it on this year and I want to put it on this year so I don’t forget!

And do you have any special traditions that your family does at Christmas time?

Elliot: This year we might go see The Rockettes. In New York.

Oh my gosh! Have you ever seen them before?

Elliot: No. But last year we did go see Harry Potter on Broadway for my birthday. We went to New York for three days, spent a whole ton of money, and had fun.

That sounds so amazing. I’m jealous! What’s your favorite part about this show so far?

Elliot: I get to sing. And I have the last talking line in the whole show. I say, “God bless us, everyone.”

What does Christmas mean to you?

Elliot: Christmas means like— presents! But not just that. Giving and family and friends and spending time with them.

I love that. Why do you want people to come out and see A Christmas Carol?

Elliot: Because we’re a really good show and I think the production’s going to be really good and it’s going to be a good show.

If you had to pick just one word to talk about all the stuff that you’ve done here with A Christmas Carol so far, what word would you use?

Elliot: I’ve had a good time.

That’s…perfect. Thank you so much.
