It’ll be more than just words, words, words with The Stage’s production of David Ives’ All in the Timing as they prove that it is absolutely…well that. All in the timing. Six hilarious one-acts that are too hot-too-trot…sky, all rolling out one after the other over the course of the evening, what’s not to love? Directed by Rob Gorman, this intellectually stimulating,
“The theatre community here <Washington DC> is something other cities can only dream of.” An earnest and rewarding quote pulled directly from the lips of David Ives, this year’s recipient of “Outstanding Original Play or Musical Adaptation” at the 32nd Annual Helen Hayes Awards Ceremony. Just one of 236 nominees being celebrated over the course of the evening, Ives’ statement captured the tone of the evening early on with the aforementioned quote given during his award acceptance speech.
We are all easily explicable, what we are not is easily extricable…perhaps in your case it is not easily extricable from your job? Or from your couch when your favorite program has graced the television screen? Whatever you find your inextricability to be, make no explanations for having missed the finest show that Fells Point Corner Theatre has offered up this far this season. Making its Baltimore area community theatre debut, David Ives’ Venus in Fur will keep you perched at the edge of your seat until the rather astonishing conclusion as Thomas and Vanda have at each other over the course of 90 minutes’ stage traffic.
In the mood for something sexy, thought-provoking, and fun? Then you need to get yourself down to The Colonial Players in Annapolis for their current production of Venus in Fur by David Ives, Directed by Jim Gallagher. This reviewer likes his shows to be a little fluffy with lots of comedy, some drama, and, usually, a happy ending, but there are exceptions and Venus in Fur was QUITE a PLEASANT surprise to me.
