When I was younger I read the book The Secret Garden. A few years later I watch the movie when it was released so I was very excited to get to see the musical adaptation of the story. Walking into the theatre at The Colonial Players of Annapolis I was transported by the stage decorations, painting, and lighting of their production of The Secret Garden with Book and Lyrics by Marsha Norman and Music by Lucy Simon.

And the Children’s Playhouse of Maryland doesn’t just have a spoons— they’ve got the whole bloomin’ bottle of fantastical holiday magic all shaken up and ready to explode all over their audience with their production of Mary Poppins. Directed by Liz Boyer Hunnicutt with Musical Direction by Sherry Benedek, this marvelous musical features the finest young musical talent this side of Baltimore taking on the Herculean task of a Disney musical.
Anatevka; where else would the Sabbath be so sweet? Why at the Howard County Summer Theatre, of course, where the Sabbath and several days surrounding it are simply resplendent as they mount their 41st season’s production: Fiddler on the Roof. Directed by Tom Sankey with Musical Direction by Christopher Hattenbach and Kevin George, this resilient classic proves to their finest production yet with a talented cast, rustic sets, and authentic costumes. The show is a delight for families all over Howard County this summer season.
